Large Tree in Victoria Park

Sydney, NS

Circa Early 1900's

This is an image of a coloured postcard from the early 1900’s showing Victoria Park in Sydney, NS. The card is postmarked February 12, 1909. As well as its military use as a base for militia and garrison units for many years, Victoria Park was also a favorite recreational spot for Sydney residents to visit in the early twentieth century. The view is looking toward the mouth of Sydney Harbour. Note the warship in the harbour. Also note the large bent tree that shows up in many photos taken in Victoria Park at the time.
