Restored and Enlarged Version of the Photo

At the top of the photo is the steel plant of the Dominion Steel and Coal Corporation with the entrance to Muggah Creek just below that.

In the centre of the photo is Victoria Park with its many newly constructed war time barrack buildings. The homes of north end Sydney are to the right of the photo. The entrance to Victoria Park off Desbarres Street can be clearly seen on the right side of the park. The three buildings in the centre that the main entrance road seems to “vee” around, are the oldest buildings in the park. They were constructed by the British Army in the early to mid 1800’s.

In the bottom of the photo is the Sydney Foundry and Machine Works Limited. The last of these buildings were demolished only recently.
