This is a studio portrait photo of two unidentified soldiers from the 85th Battalion. They are wearing standard army uniforms including five button tunics, pants and puttees. On their heads are highland tam o'shanters. They are missing the feathers from their caps. 85th Battalion cap and collar badges are visible. This photo would have been taken before the battalion received their highland kit in the summer of 1918. The French writing on the reverse of the postcard, see below, indicates it was taken in France or possibly Belgium.
