Medals Awarded to

Reg Roy

In this photo are the medals awarded to Reg Roy. They are left to right:

1. 1939-1945 Star - Awarded for six months service on active operations for Army and Navy, and two months for active air-crew.

2.  Italy Star - Awarded for one day operational service in Sicily or Italy between June 11, 1943 and May 8, 1945.

3. France and Germany Star - Awarded for one day or more of service in France, Belgium, Holland or Germany between June 6, 1944 (D-Day) and May 8, 1945.

4.  Defence Medal - Awarded to Canadians for six months service in Britain between September 3, 1939 and May 8, 1945.

5.  Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp - Awarded to persons of any rank in the Naval, Military or Air Forces of Canada who voluntarily served on Active Service and honourably completed eighteen months total voluntary service from September 3, 1939 to March 1, 1947. The bar was awarded for 60 days service outside of Canada.

6.  War Medal 1939-1945 - Awarded to all full-time personnel of the Armed Forces and Merchant Marines for serving for 28 days between September 3, 1939 and September 2, 1945. 

7.  125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal - Issued in 1992 and awarded to civilians and members of the military for making a significant contribution to their fellow citizens, their community, or to Canada.

8.  Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal - Created in 2002 to commemorate the 50^th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the Throne. The Medal was awarded to Canadians who made outstanding and exemplary contributions to their communities or to Canada as a whole.

9.  Canadian Forces' Decoration (CD) and Bar - Awarded to officers and non-commissioned members of the Canadian Forces who have completed twelve years of service. The decoration is awarded to all ranks who have a good record of conduct. The bar was awarded for every subsequent period of ten years of qualifying service. Reg Roy's medal above is inscribed on the rim, "CAPT R.H. ROY".
