Pte. Alexander Joseph MacInnis

1st Canadian Parachute Battalion

Circa 1943-1944

Studio portrait photo of Alexander Joseph MacInnis. Note the paraachute jump wings on his left breast. He would have been authorized to wear this after he received his qualification as a parachutist on January 1, 1943. Note also that he still wears collar insignia for the Royal Canadian Engineers. After receiving his qualification as a parachutist and was fully accepted into the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, his rank changed from sapper to private. His Royal Canadian Engineer collar insignia would soon be discarded.
