Harvey Edwin Crowell With Woman

219th Overseas Highland Battalion

Nova Scotia

1916

Thie photo was taken very shortly after Harvey joined the 219th Battalion. Although he has been issued a balmoral, he has not yet been issued 219th Battalion cap and collar badges. His cap and collar badges in the photo appear to be for his previous artillery unit. As well, his sleeve rank denoting the rank of lieutenant is the standard army style as opposed to the distinct highland style sleeve rank system.  The woman is believed to be his sister.
