Perley Cameron was born in Sydney, NS. and originally enlisted in the Cape Breton Highlanders in 1939. In mid June, 1940, Perley was one of 165 officers and men transferred from the Cape Breton Highlanders to the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in order to help bring them up to full strength before they went overseas. He spent the remainder of the war with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and was one of the few original members who went overseas with the unit in 1941 and returned home in 1945. Perley Cameron passed away in 2001.
