A contingent of soldiers from the two battalions of The Nova Scotia Highlanders pose for a photo in the Halifax Metro Centre. They played a part in the Nova Scotia International Tattoo, possibly the "gun run". The men on the left of the photo, wearing glengarries, are from the 2nd Battalion The Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton). The men on the right, wearing balmorals, are from the 1st Battalion The Nova Scotia Highlanders (North).
The officer in the centre, holding a claymore, is Capt. John Helle.
Standing on the far right is an unidentified Regular Support Staff (RSS) sergeant. He wears a cap badge for the Royal Canadian Regiment. Regular Support Staff in the Canadian Armed Forces were typically permanent, full-time personnel assigned to suppoort reserve units.
