Two Commanding Officers

2nd Battalion The Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton)

Circa Early 1980's

Two officers of the battalion ham it up for the camera while cleaning their handguns.

On the left, wearing a balmoral, is Gordon Gabriel. He commanded the battalion from September 3, 1982 to September 3, 1985. It is believed that he was the commanding officer of the battalion when the photo was taken so his rank would be lieutenant-colonel.

On the right, wearing a beret, is Gary Philip Curtis. He commanded the battalion from June 3, 1979 to September 3, 1982. It is believed that he was the commander of the Cape Breton Militia District at the time the photo was taken so his rank would be colonel.
